Lead Production Planning - Master Planner

Nashua, NH

Plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors final approval of products through the complete production cycle to meet production requirements. Works from engineering plans and production specifications to ensure materials are provided according to schedules. Advises management of the status of work in progress, coordinates with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain and interfaces with engineering and program management. Ensures availability of materials and labor to meet production requirements and delivery commitments. Works to resolve labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions.  Supervise and mentor direct reports: Purchasing, Production Planning, Inventory, Shipping /Receiving.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning and scheduling to effectively meet internal and external customer demand, including creating a rolling 12-month Master Production Plan comprised of both firm and forecasted sales
  • Responsible for working with programs, operations, contracts, and finance to facilitate the overall management strategy and approach to enhancing processes between functions and managing data integrity
  • Lead the monthly SIOP process meetings to review performance against schedule, inventory strategy, supply plan to meet demand, and resource implications
  • RFQ status oversight
  • Perform supply-demand analysis each quarter, highlighting areas of concerns that cover 1-2 years
  • Identify gaps and drive solutions on production performance relative to the requested production schedule
  • Develop and manage inventory targets that achieve targeted inventory levels on both a cost and unit basis.  Monitor and adjust Master Data and build lead times to ensure accurate planning data and reporting
  • Oversight of needed parts due to Production Change Notices, Engineering Changes and effect of deliveries against schedule.  Expedite shortages as necessary
  • Project milestone tracking to ensure support departments are on time with scheduled releases, hold weekly meetings to review project status with functional managers
  • Responsible for maintaining ERP data integrity

Position Requirements

  • Requires comprehensive knowledge of job area.  Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.  In-depth knowledge of project management a plus
  • Strategic thinker, strong analytical skills, able to synthesize considerable and complex data
  • Capable of utilizing spreadsheet and ERP-type software in managing the planning process.  Experience with Visual Manufacturing or other ERP Systems required
  • Capable creating reports and reporting KPIs, Status to senior leadership
  • Exceptional interpersonal/written communication skills; can effectively interact with all levels of management; demonstrated customer focus/business partnership 
  • Team player able to work well across business operations and develop strong business teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence teams and programs regarding quality, productivity 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with limited direction
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Strong PC skills (Excel, PP, Word, Access)
  • Experience with continuous improvements, Lean, Six Sigma 
  • APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or APICS Certified Supply chain Professional (CSCP) a plus
  • Experience working in an AS9100 environment a plus
  • U.S. Person Required
