The Optics Fabrication Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the optical fabrication and coating processes, with a strong focus on financial metrics, on-time delivery, advanced manufacturing techniques, process optimization, quality control, and team leadership. This role involves collaboration with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to ensure efficient operations and the delivery of high-quality optical components. The ideal candidate will be experienced in lean six sigma processes and their implementation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 20-30 optical fabrication supervisors, technicians, and engineers across multiple shifts, aiming for over 95% on-time delivery and 99% quality standards.
- Assign tasks, manage schedules, and drive efficiency within the team.
- Oversee production schedules to ensure customer deadlines are met.
- Optimize business profitability by understanding manufacturing cost drivers and assessing the financial impacts of key decisions.
- Manage key processes such as Diamond Turning, Conventional Polishing, CNC Generating & Polishing, MRF, Optical Coating, and Machine Shop operations; ensure planning, preventive maintenance, and quality control.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing principles to create a streamlined work environment with efficient work-cells, reduce start-up times, and improve production quality across all processes.
- Lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional optical fabrication teams, while managing staffing needs.
- Strong excel and data analytics skills need to be demonstrated with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Position Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in optical fabrication or a related field.
- Proven managerial experience in a manufacturing operation with P&L responsibility
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Extensive knowledge of optical fabrication techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Excellent MRP or product-specific forecasting in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with the Infor Visual Manufacturing ERP System is a plus.
- Six Sigma and Quality Training.
- Experience with AS9100 programs is advantageous.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
