Systems Engineer

As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering a full system solution. You will focus on meeting the demanding space, ground, and airborne optomechanical systems requirements guiding a small nimble team to project delivery.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • The selected candidate will lead projects and provide the systems engineering of sensor systems, passive and active system elements, and interfacing systems that are part of a large complex data network environment with geographically distributed components
  • Project lead will provide effective daily communication and collaboration with customers, system engineering team, software integration team, test engineers, production management, and supply chain management
  • She/he will be responsible for leading system engineering practices to ensure the proper degree of engineering rigor is applied to all assigned tasks, especially documentation
  • The systems engineer will actively lead program increment (PI) planning and foster agile engineering activities 
  • U.S. citizenship and the eligibility for security clearance.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field and at least five (5) years of related experience or a Master’s degree and three (3) years of prior relevant experience preferred
  • Experience designing and integrating sensor systems with a focus on imaging systems
  • Ability to synthesize operational, technical, and customer requirements
  • Experience with risk management and risk register protocol best practices
  • Experience with UML/SysML, DoDAF
  • Demonstrated experience in several of the following areas: system architecture design and development, requirements analysis, testing, and technical system documentation
  • Comfortable working on multiple system development programs simultaneously
  • Capable of performing systems engineering activities in support of agile teams
  • Committed to adopting and adhering to best practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effectively planning and prioritization tasking and communicating clearly regarding technical options and trade-offs
  • Experience with technical documentation development
  • Must be capable of performing high-quality work both independently and with a team in a fast-moving environment
  • Operations Research Systems Analysis (ORSA) experience/training is highly desirable
  • Model-based systems engineering experience a plus
  • Experience writing and executing tests and/or Automated Testing beneficial
  • Past Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) or Test-Driven Development (TDD) experience a strong plus
