Mentorship provides invaluable guidance, support, and insight to help upcoming scientists navigate the complexities of their fields and make significant contributions to the defense and aerospace community. One such example of effective mentorship was seen at the Wharton Aerospace Conference in 2023, where Angelique X. Irvin took on the role of mentor to Alexandra Weinsten and Sophia Fitzsimonds both Physics Majors at the University of Pennsylvania.

Eagleville, PA - Angelique X Irvin, CEO of Clear Align was the guest speaker at our fall meeting.  She discussed the future of infrared imaging and surveillance for borders and national defense, and how machine learning and AI enable a new paradigm in national defense.  She shared the trends in materials and assembly technology, as well as software and electronics implications to the evolving threats to national and international security.  Angelique provided insight to young engineers on career paths in electro optics and infrared technology as well as having breakout discussions on career paths in entrepreneurship and the pros and cons of building a business.
